I’m a mechanical engineer with a deep fascination for the endless expanse above. By day, I design and build optical instruments, but by night, I turn my gaze—and my lens—skyward. I came to this craft later in life, every moment spent capturing the cosmos is one I treasure. My hope is that Astrocatcher brings a bit of wonder to your day and maybe even offers some insights into the universe we share. I will try to give you insights into my equipment and process but also try to teach you a little bit about the targets we are looking at.
I’ll share insights into my equipment and process, along with stories about the targets we’re exploring. Two of my most memorable nights were when I first framed and photographed a galaxy, M51 (the Whirlpool Galaxy), and later, a nebula, NGC 7380 (the Wizard Nebula). What are some of your favorite things about the night sky?
